The type of Promethes persulcator Nakanishi could not be obtained, but based on the detailed description (Nakanishi, 1986) and on this male from the Kuril islands, these two species are clearly synonymous. While P.
bridgmani has only been reported from Europe, P. persulcator has been recorded in Japan and the Russian Far East. Palaearctic, including Japan and the Russian Far East.
