Ixodes siamensis Kitaoka and Suzuki, 1983
Ixodes siamensis was described from larvae collected on shrews and rodents in a montane rainforest at Doi Inthanon, northern Thailand. Larvae remain the only life history stage described (Guglielmone et al. 2014).
The validity of this species is doubtful, with some authors treating it as a synonym of I. ovatus (Camicas et al. 1998; Kolonin 2009), but it is tentatively recognized by Guglielmone et al. (2009, 2014). There is thus a need to revise what is currently considered I. ovatus to determine whether I. siamensis is part of a species complex (Guglielmone et al. 2009).
