Dermacentor filippovae Apanaskevich and Apanaskevich, 2015

This recently described species has previously been confused with D. auratus and D. compactus (Apanaskevich and Apanaskevich 2015a). To date it is known from Lao PDR, Thailand and Vietnam, where it is predominantly a parasite of wild pigs (Sus scrofa) (Apanaskevich and Apanaskevich 2015a; Vongphayloth et al. 2018b). Apanaskevich and Apanaskevich (2015a) suggest that collections from Cambodia could bridge the gap between Thailand and Vietnam.
