Saphonecrus shirakashii (Shinji, 1940)

SaphnecruS tianmuShanuS Wang & Chen, 2010, n. syn.

Type material. Holotype ♀ and 4♀ paratypes (deposited in ZAFU). Collecting data: Shicang (Songyang, Zhejiang, China), 119º 29’ E, 28º 20’ N, 1981-XII-10, leg. Han-lin Chen.

Additional material. Wuyishan (Fujian province), gall 9143 on Quercus sp, (2015-VII-31) 2015-VIII-10: 2♀, leg. Shen Jie.

Comments. This species was originally described in Andricus Hartig, later placed in Ufo (Wachi et al., 2011) and recently transferred to Saphonecrus (Melika et al., 2012) . It is obtained from galls collected on Quercus, subgenus Cyclobalanopsis . Here it was obtained from leaf galls (Fig. 6c) collected in unknown Quercus . This species is mentioned from Japan and Taiwan (Schwéger et al., 2015a); first record from Mainland China.

After examining the Holotype of Saphnecrus tianmushanus and studying the original description (Wang et al., 2010), we have detected some important mistakes, as for example: the number of flagellomeres is 11 (not 12 as it is mentioned in the original description), the pronotal carinae is present (absent in the original description), mesoscutum have piliferous points (not mentioned in the original description) and medial mesoscutal impression present (weak in the original description, but only it is weak in a single specimen). In summary, after reexamining the type material of Saphnecrus tianmushanus Wang & Chen, we conclude that it is a n. syn. of Saphonecrus shirakashii (Shinji, 1940) .
