The specimen here designated as lectotype is a male bearing labels: “ Moscou ”, “zabroides m. in Russia ”, “ G.E. Ball H 18”, “ Harpalus zabroides Dej. det. George E. Ball ” and “ Lectotype of Harpalus zabroides Dejean, 1829 desig. by J. Serrano ” .

I have not found any publication of G.E. Ball concerning this species. A key to identify it is found in Wrase (2004).
The species is distributed in Europe, West Siberia and Central Asia (Kataev & Wrase, 2017c).
