Harpalus saxicola Dejean, 1829: 316 .

The specimen here recognized as holotype is a male bearing the labels: “ saxicola Godet in Russia mer. Tauria”, “v Godet”, “ TYPE.” and “ Holotype of Harpalus saxicola Dejean, 1829 . J. Serrano vidit.” .

There was no statement about the authorship of the red label marked “TYPE”; it was perhaps left by Mlynař (1979, p. 73), who was able to study a number of types of Dejean’s collection. I hereby recognize this specimen as the holotype by monotypy, according to the original description. A key to this species is available in Wrase (2011).

It is distributed in East Europe and the Levant.
