Ditomus tomentosus Dejean, 1831: 519 .
The specimen here recognized as holotype is a male bearing the labels: “ tomentosus m. in Barbaria. Tanger ”, “Goudot”, “ex-Museo Chaudoir” and “ Holotype of Ditomus tomentosus Dejean, 1831 desig. by J. Serrano ” .
The genus Oedesis currently includes seven species with a similar distribution pattern as that mentioned for the genus Odontocarus . The genus Oedesis is well differentiated from other genera of Ditomi (Antoine, 1959).
Two species occur in the Ibero-Maghrebian area, O. tomentosus and O. villosulus (Reiche, 1860) which are readily distinguished by body size, elytral pubescence, epipleura etc. (Antoine, 1959).
