Acupalpus suturalis Dejean, 1829: 448 .

The specimen here recognized as holotype is a male bearing labels “ suturalis Ziegler h. in Dalmatia” and “ Holotype of Acupalpus suturalis Dejean, 1829 . J. Serrano vidit.” .

Dejean (1829) did not mention the number of beetles he studied. From the brief description it is inferred that he only had a single specimen at hand. The beetle I hereby recognize as the holotype shows the dorsal dark colouration with the first elytron interval yellowish coloured, the punctures of pronotum basis and the smooth head without microsculpture, characters that are proper of the species (Jeannel, 1942; Wrase, 2004, 2011).

The species occurs in Central and Eastern Europe; Jeannel (1942) noted that it had been found only one time in France.
