Acupalpus nigriceps Dejean, 1829: 453 .

The specimen here designated as lectotype is a female bearing labels β€œ nigriceps m. in Gal. mer” and β€œ Lectotype of Acupalpus nigriceps Dejean, 1829 design. by J. Serrano ” .

The name is currently considered a synonym of Acupalpus flavicollis (Sturm, 1825) . The lectotype shows the characteristics of A. flavicollis (Sturm, 1825) concerning most key characters (e.g., lack of dorsal pore in the second half of third interval of elytron) although dorsal coloration is somewhat different.

As in the case of A. luridus, it is difficult to understand why Dejean described it as a new species because he knew the type material of A. flavicollis (Sturm, 1825) .
