The specimen here designated as lectotype is a male bearing the labels: “ similis in Dalmatia”, “ex-Museo Chaudoir”, “ R. P. Pantel ”, “Pater.” and “ Lectotype of Harpalus (Ophonus) similis Dejean, 1829 desig. by J. Serrano ” .
Dejean (1829) briefly stated: Il se trouve en Dalmatie et dans le midi de la France.
This species is well distinguishable from related taxa (Jeannel, 1942; Sciaky, 1987; Wrase, 2011) due to dorsal colouration, punctures on the striae, apex of penis, etc.
It is distributed in Central and Mediterranean Europe and the Levant (Kataev & Wrase, 2017c).
