Arpactophilus brochus Bohart, 1999

(Figs. 14, 31–32)

Arpactophilus brochus Bohart, 1999: 98 [♀: holotype MNHN].

Diagnosis. Arpactophilus brochus is the only New Caledonian species in the genus with a clypeus that has a small lateral pointed tooth on each side which are connected by a straight line with no medial tooth and a labrum with four teeth (Fig. 31). Another distinctive character is the presence of fine longitudinal ridges on the gena (Fig. 14), which can only be found in A. cuspidis, but this species differs greatly in the extensive yellow markings and medially projecting apical clypeal margin (Fig. 43).

Remarks. The coloration of mandible, labrum and scape is variable (with coloration from yellow to dark brown).
