Arpactophilus nigripes Bohart, 1999
Arpactophilus nigripes Bohart, 1999: 106 [♀: holotype BPBM].
Diagnosis (based on Bohart, 1999). Arpactophilus nigripes appears to be the only New Caledonian species in the genus with a combination of a forewing with one submarginal cell and black tibiae.
Remarks. We were not able to study material referable to A. nigripes and Bohart’s type was similarly not accessible to us. Since the original description does not include several characters which are important to distinguish it from the new species described herein it is unsure if the above diagnosis will hold, and there may be some other features that should be added to more accurately circumscribe it from others. Nonetheless, no species among the present material has wholly black tibiae and so this at least permits us to minimally exclude it as conspecific with others.
