Oryzomys texensis J. A. Allen, 1894
Texas Marsh Rice Rat
Members of the genus Oryzomys have gone through recent taxonomic revisions (Hanson et al. 2010) resulting in specimens of marsh rice rats in Louisiana being reassigned to O. texensis (previously O. palustris). Oryzomys texensis is common throughout the southern, northwest, northeast, and central parishes. Since Lowery (1974), a new specimen record was reported from Madison Parish.
