TYPE LOCALITY: Indonesia, Irian Jaya, Sorong Div., Waigeo Isl .
DISTRIBUTION: New Guinea and adjacent small islands including Bismarck Arch., Mysol and Salawati Isis.
STATUS: Common.
SYNONYMS: albiceps, breviceps, cockerelli, doreyanus, garagassi, hispida, myoides, oriomo, philipi, rufiventris.
COMMENTS: The name kalubu has been attributed to Lesson, 1828, Diet. Class. Hist. Nat., 13:200; but see Husson (1955:290).
