Eisenia nordenskioldi (Eisen)

Eisenia nordenskioldi: Syamyonava & Anisimava 1992: 110; Maksimova & Mukhin 2016: 57.

Widespread in Siberia, also found in eastern Europe. Epi-endogeic.

Distribution (Fig. 3b):

Mogilev Reg.: Cherikov Distr., Cherikov Reserve; Klichev Distr., near Klichev, floodplain biogeocenosis, 3 ex.

Note: E. nordenskioldi gets rare in the western part of its distribution, so it is hard to tell where the western boundary of this species is. According to Vsevolodova-Perel (1997), it lies at about 34 ÂșE and thus well east of Belarus. The locations mentioned in Syamyonava and Anisimava (1992) and Maksimova (2016) were examined by us, and this species was not found. It is well possible that the findings of E. nordenskioldi were the result of misidentification, but we cannot rule out the possibility that this species can be found in Belarus, albeit in very low numbers.
