Vindullus Simon, 1880

Uindullus Simon, 1880: 288. Caporiacco 1955: 404 (implicit genus revalidation); Rheims & Jäger 2008: 221 (explicit genus revalidation).

Type species: Vindullus gracilipes (Taczanowski, 1872) .

Diagnosis. Vindullus males are distinguished from those of all other Neotropical sparassid genera, except Macrinus Simon, 1887, in having palps with a spiraled tegulum and a serrated projection (Figs 2, 5, 7–11; Rheims & Jäger 2008: figs 12, 19, 25, 31; serrated keel in Rheims 2007: figs 21–22, 27–28, 33–34). They are distinguished from Macrinus males in having a rounded or triangular projection at the base of the embolus and a triangular projection at the base of the conductor (Figs 2, 5, 7–11, distal triangular projection in Rheims & Jäger 2008). Females are distinguished from those of the remaining Neotropical Sparassidae genera by the epigyne with median septum bearing an oval posterior blind ending atrium (Fig. 23) and vulva with a hyaline internal duct system with two windings, the anterior (closest to copulatory opening) bearing a small, blind ending glandular projection (Figs 24–26).
