Arenopontia subterranea Kunz, 1937 sensu Rao (1991)
Rao (1991) provided a brief text description based on two specimens (body length 300–320 μm; no sex specified) collected from medium coralline sand near the mid-water level of lagoon beaches on Kavaratti and Agatti, Lakshadweep (India). He claimed that his material showed minor variations with Kunz’s (1937) description in the armature of the body appendages, in particular the shape of the modified setae on P1 exp-3 and the distal endopod segment of P2 and P4. Rao (1991) also stated that the antennary exopod carried two setae, a unique character within the Arenopontiidae (see also Arlt 1983: Fig. 17). Without any illustrations given, the authenticity of this record cannot be confirmed.
