Type material examined. Holotype (Figs 19, 36): male, “ China, Guangdong, Shaoguan, Nanling, 1,000–1,400m, 9–15.VII.2010, Yasunori Kishida ” / red label “ Holotypus ♂ Agrisius aestivalis Dubatolov, Kishida, Wang ” / “ Agrisius ♂ guttivitta Wlk V.V. Dubatolov det. X.2010 ”, gen. prep. No.: AV1753 (prepared by Volynkin, ex prep. by Dubatolov) (SZMN) . Paratype: female, China, Guangdong, Shaoguan, Nanling, 1,000–1,400m, 9–15.VII.2010, Yasunori Kishida / Agrisius ♀ guttivitta Wlk V.V. Dubatolov det. X.2010 / red label “ Paratypus ♀ Agrisius aestivalis Dubatolov, Kishida, Wang ”, gen. prep. No.: AV1708 (prepared by Volynkin) (SZMN) .

Diagnosis. The forewing length is 20.0 mm in the holotype male and 19.5 mm in the paratype female. The species is very similar externally to A. vernalis and A. frater, and the reliable identification requires the examination of the genitalia. The detailed comparison of the genitalia of both sexes with A. vernalis and A. frater is provided in the diagnoses of these species.

Distribution. The species is known from Guangdong Province (South China) (Dubatolov et al. 2012).
