Ecology: (dry) evergreen forest, primary forest, secondary forest (with much bamboo), scrub; very dry to swampy, along rivers, ridges, on steep slopes; soil: deep fertile soil, humus rich to swampy boulder strewn soil; limestone bedrock; elevation: 200–2000 m ( van Welzen 2003).
Distribution: NE India to S China, SE Asia, throughout Malesia to N Australia ( van Welzen 2003).

Red List Assessment: Least Concern.
