Type species. Rhinodrilus ecuadoriensis Benham, 1892 .

Diagnosis. Number of species: 15. Distribution: Colombia (6), Ecuador (4), Peru (2), Guyana (2), Surinan (1). In some cases, the species are distributed in several countries, for example M. (Mp.) agricola, M. (Mp.) ecuadoriensis, and M. (Mp.) savanicola, in Colombia and Ecuador and M. (Mp.) micrurus and M. (Mp.) ecuadoriensis in Ecuador and Peru (Feijoo& Celis 2011).

Genus diagnosis, modified, following Righi (1995), Zicsi (2001): Species with green, red, violet, brown or blueish pigmentation. Eight rows of regular, closely paired setae. Absent or very thin membranous septa in the gizzard area; 7–8 pairs of calciferous glands between segments 7–13 or 8–14 with a composite, reticulate tubular structure. Holandric and metagynic sexual apparatus with testes in segments 10 and 11 and hypo- or periesophageal testis sacs. Short seminal vesicles limited to segments in 11 and 12. Four pairs of spermathecae present in segments 6, 7, 8, 9.
