Distribution: Italy (incl. Sicily), Turkey (Mugla). First records for Spain and Tunisia (new to North Africa).

Distribution: Lithuania, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Iran. First records for Macedonia and Morocco (new to North Africa).

Note: An overlooked species, only recently recorded in Europe from Lithuania (Podenas & Visarčuk 2006), but probably widespread at least in the east of Europe. It differs from G. (G.) tenella (Meigen, 1818) especially by the shape of the aedeagus (cf. Figs 1–2).
