Genus Orthogonius MacLeay, 1825

Orthogonius alternans Wiedemann 1823

Hill (1982) and Hua (2002) list this species as occurring in Hong Kong but not by Bousquet (2003d).

Orthogonius xanthomerus Redtenbacher, 1867

This species was described from specimens collected by Ritter von Frauenfeld in Hong Kong. It was also collected by both Champion and Bowring prior to 1855. This is likely to be the species Bowring mentions in a 1855 letter to Adam White (Anon 1855). "the other day I got my first specimen of the only beetle in poor Champion's collection, which I did not possess when he left China, an Orthogonius; I don't know whether it has been described." Gemminger & Harold (1868), Chaudoir (1871b), Andrewes (1924) and Bousquet (2003d) also list this species for Hong Kong.
