Genus Hololeius LaFert-Sénectére, 1851

Hololeius ceylanicus Nietner, 1856

Chaudoir (1857) described a junior synonym of this species Hololius punctulatus Chaudoir 1857 from Hong Kong, the specimen originating from M. Dohrn and Schaum. Gemminger & Harold (1868) list H. punctulatus for Hong Kong. Kirschenhofer (2003a) however does not list Hong Kong under the distribution of ceylanicus at all. Material: 1 ex. Hong Kong, Lantau, Pui O, 20.ii.15, under rock in dry saltwater marsh; 1 ex. Hong Kong, Lantau, Pui O, 20.iii.07; 1 ex. Hong Kong, Lantau, Pui O, 30.ix.06, under stone in dry marsh; 1 ex. Hong Kong, Lantau, Pui O, 13.x.06, under stone in dry marsh; 1 ex. Hong Kong, Lantau, Pui O, 30.xii.06, many present under stone. Biology: Imago found October – March. Fresh and salt water marshes, or at least when they are dry.
