Genus Pristomachaerus Bates, 1873

Pristomachaerus chalcocephalus chalcocephalus Wiedemann, 1823

A junior synonym of this species, Pristomachaerus messi Bates 1873, was described from specimens which originated from Hong Kong and were given to Bates by Herr Mess of Munich (Bates 1873b). This synonym was also listed by Hua. Chaudoir (1878), Andrewes (1921a & 1921c) and Kirschenhofer (2003a) list this species for Hong Kong. Material: 1 ex. W.T., 7.v.06. Biology: Imago found May.
