Subgenus Ocybatus LaFert-Sénectére, 1851

Chlaenius (Ocybatus) junceus Andrewes, 1923

Andrewes (1923a) described this species from three specimens originating in the Bowring collection and a fourth collected by Fortune in northern China. Andrewes assumed the Bowring specimens were from Hong Kong. Bowring labeled his specimens " Hong Kong " or " China ", the fact these specimens were labeled " China ", indicates they were not collected on Hong Kong island. It is unfortunate that we will never know where the type specimens of so many species were collected from. Although Kirschenhofer (2003a) lists this species for Hong Kong, it would be nice to have its occurrence confirmed.
