Subgenus Amblygenius LaFert-Sénectére, 1851

Chlaenius (Amblygenius) sinensis Chaudoir, 1856

Chaudoir described this species from specimens originating from Hong Kong. Chaudoir (1876b) noted this species as quite common in Hong Kong. Gemminger & Harold (1868), Hill (1982) and Kirschenhofer (2003a) also list this species for Hong Kong. Hill (1982) gives it the common name Shiny Ground Beetle. Material: ♀ Hong Kong, Lantau, Wo Tin 14.ii.15 Wo Tin, under rock on dry hillside; ♀ W.T.L., 22.vi.12; 1 ex. Hong Kong, Lantau, Sunset Peak, 27.ix.09, found dead on path dried. Ƌ W.T., 1.xii.10, in grass at circa 200 m alt, under rock, together with what looked like Craspedophorus mandarinus or very similar species. Biology: Imago found throughout the year. This species seems to like grassy, dry hilltops. Can be attracted to light, it is fully winged and capable of flight.
