Chlaenius (Chlaeniostenus) acroxanthus Chaudoir, 1876
New record for Hong Kong. Species determined by Liang Hong-Bin. Chaudoir (1876b) described this species from specimens originating from Thailand, Singapore and Java. Material: 1 ex. Hong Kong, Lantau, Pui O, 20.ii.15, under rock in dry freshwater marsh; 1 ex. Hong Kong, Lantau, Pui O, 11.ix.12, caught in pit fall trap, dry fresh water marsh. Biology: Imago found February and September. Probably lives on the edge of marshy areas.
Chlaenius (Chlaeniostenus) circumdatus xanthopleurus Chaudoir, 1856
Chlaenius nicanus Motschulsky, 1865, a junior synonym of this species, was described from specimens originating in Hong Kong. Chaudoir (1876b) noted Chlaenius xanthopleurus Chaudoir, 1856, now subspecies Chlaenius (Chlaeniellus) circumdatus xanthopleurus Chaudoir, 1856, from Hong Kong. Material: Ƌ W.T.L., 15.iii.15; Hong Kong 23.v.07 (Leg. Yiu Vor). Biology: Imago found March to May. Attracted to light and fully winged.
Chlaenius (Chlaeniostenus) postscriptus Bates, 1873
Bates described this species from specimens originating in Hong Kong. Chaudoir (1876b) described Chlaenius extremus, a junior synonym of this species, also from Hong Kong specimens. The specimen originating from a M. Dohrn, is listed under this name by Harold (1876). Also in that work Chaudoir noted a female of postscriptus in Bate's collection. Kirschenhofer (2003a) also lists this species for Hong Kong.
