Genus Callistoides Motschulsky, 1865
Callistoides deliciolus (Bates, 1873)
Bates (1873a) described this species from Japan. A junior synonym Callistoides cyaniceps (Bates 1873b) was described from Hong Kong and listed for Hong Kong by Gemminger & Harold (1868), Chaudoir (1876b) and Thaxter (1902). Material: 1 ex. Hong Kong, Lantau, Sunset Peak, 24.vi.06 at circa 640 altitude in scrubby grassland; 1 ex. W.T.L., 1.vii.14; Ƌ+♀ W.T.L., 10.vii.13. Biology: Imago found June – July. Probably lives in high altitude grasslands. Attracted to light and fully winged.
Callistoides guttula (Chaudoir, 1856)
Chaudoir described this species from Hong Kong specimens given to him by Dohrn. Also listed for Hong Kong by Chaudoir (1876b), Gemminger & Harold (1868), Mroczkowski (1960), Darlington 1968 and Kirschenhofer (2003a). Andrewes (1926) notes a specimen of a junior synonym of this species Chlaenius cuspidatus Heller 1923 from Hong Kong.
Callistoides pericallus (Redtenbacher, 1867)
Redtenbacher described this species from Hong Kong and appears to have used two names to describe it. In the text under species 77 he describes Chlaenius pulcher Redtenbacher, 1867 . However in the illustrations of species 77 it is Chlaenius pericallus Redtenbacher 1867 followed with a bracket and the word " pulcher antea", antea being 'former' in latin. Redtenbacher makes no other mention of pericallus, however Andrewes (1924) explains the name pulcher was pre-ocupied by Nietner. Kirschenhofer (2003a) treats pulcher as junior synonym. Also listed for Hong Kong by Gemminger & Harold (1868), Bates (1873a), Chaudoir (1876b), Fairmaire (1888b) and Kirschenhofer (2003a).
