Subgenus Caelostomus

Caelostomus (Caelostomus) picipes W.S. MacLeay, 1825

Chaudoir (1870, 1872b) lists Stomonaxus striaticollis Chaudoir, 1872 (nec Dejean, 1831), a junior synonym of this species, from Hong Kong. Straneo (1938) lists C. picipes picipes as occurring in Hong Kong. Material: 1 ex. W.T.L., 18.iii.09; 1 ex. W.T.L., 6.iv.15; 1 ex. W.T.L., 18.iv.12; 1 ex. W.T.L., 7.vii.14; 3 exx. W.T., 17.viii. 10 in moist lower level of compost heap; 1 ex. W.T.L., 14.xi.14. Biology: Imago found March to November. Found in un-natural, moist decomposed vegetable matter of household origin. Can be attracted to light, it is fully winged.
