Genus Brachichila Chaudoir, 1869

This species was described from two specimens collected in Hong Kong by Bowring (Chaudoir, 1869b). Also listed for Hong Kong by Bates (1892), Jedlièka (1963), Habu (1982b), Kirschenhofer (1994, 1996 & 2010), Yu & Tang (2002), Park et al. (2006), Hua (2002) and Kabak (2003). Material: 1 ex. W.T., 17.iii.09, on tree trunk in daylight; ƋW.T.L. 4.v.14; ♀ W.T.L 31.v.15, actively running around hunting at light trap; 1 ex. W.T.L., 22.vi.14; 1 ex. Hong Kong, Mui Wo, Wo Tin 1.x.13 on Bamboo (these specimens show some variation, but key out to this species using Kirschenhofer,1994). Biology: Imago found March to June and October. It seems to be diurnal on tree trunks or bamboo, though it is not common. Can be attracted to light, it is fully winged and capable of flight.
