TYPE:— CHINA. Hainan: Hongmao Shan, 16 July 1929, W. T. Tsang & H. Fung 504 (i.e. Lingnan University Herbarium18038) (holotype: NY 00026425 image!; isotype: A 00064571 image!) .

Tsang & Fung 18038 (NY) was the only gathering cited inthe protologue of the name Mucuna castanea Merr. (Merrill, 1932) . However, the collecting number on the labels of the type specimens is 504, while its herbarium number is Lingnan University Herbarium 18038. Thus, the collecting number cited in the protologue is to be corrected.
