Notes to the literature data. After the current revision most of the material reported by Peshev (1962, 1964, 1974, 1975) and Peshev & Mařan (1963) as E. vittiventris was referred to E. erythronotus erythronotus .

Distribution in Bulgaria (Fig. 75): The species occurs in the southern lowland parts of Bulgaria –Stroma valley and the surrounding mountains, Eastern Rhodope Mts, Strandzha Mts., and along the Black Sea coast up to 1000 m alt. Likely to be found also in Sakar Mt. and the Southern parts of the Upper Thrace Plain. It inhabits deciduous forests and scrubs and keeps in the leaf litter and on the plant branches.

Studied material. 332 specimens (236 adults, 96 nymphs) and 1 ootheca.

General distribution. Apennine and Balkan Peninsula through northern Anatolia to the North Caucasus. In the last decades the species expands its range northwards through Central Europe (Switzerland and Germany) . Recently it has been recorded from southwestern Slovakia (Vidlička 2014) and found in Vienna, Austria (Hristov, unp.).
