Pheidole teneriffana Forel, 1893

Lectotype major worker (by present designation) labelled ‘ Ph. Teneriffana Forel [major sign] type Las Palmas Canaries’, ‘ANTWEB CASENT 0249900’ and ‘Lectotype Pheidole teneriffana Forel 1893, des. B. Seifert 2015 ’, stored in Muséum d’ Histoire Naturelle Genève.

Note: there are two localities named Las Palmas on Tenerife - one is situated directly at the northern shore and another one in the western mountains. As Forel wrote in the original description ‘Laguna Teneriffe’, the type locality should refer to the northern site [28.582, -16.166, 1]. It is also possible that the finding refers to Las Palmas on the island of Gran Canaria but then we have a severe disagreement with the published type locality.
