Holotype information. Type locality: China, Sichuan Province (Kipa. N.O., Szechuan. Sven Hedins Exp. Ctr. Asien. Dr. Hummel). Deposited at the Swedish Royal Museum of Natural History (Naturhistoriska Riksmuseet, NHRM) Stockholm, Sweden (not examined).

Remarks. Chopard (1933) described this species under the genus of Gryllus and moved it into the genus of Modicogryllus (Chopard, 1961), however, in his studies, he did not produce any graphic or describe the features of male genitalia. Gorochov (1996) examined the holotype and he described and illustrated this species. He indicated that the head of this species slightly resembles to the species of the genus Velarifictorus . It might since the similar reason, Yin and Liu (1995) arranged some Velarifictorus specimens (Yin & Liu, 1995: illustr. 182–184) under this name and moved this species from Modicogryllus to the genus Velarifictorus . According to the work of Yin and Liu, He (2018) considered the species Velarifictorus latefasciatus (Chopard, 1933) was junior synonym of Velarifictorus micado (Saussure, 1877) . This is a mistake made over and over again and M. latefasciatus is a Modicogryllus species but not of Velarifictorus . This species has not been rediscovered by Chinese for so many years and it is also difficult for us to find it since the type locality is only recorded with the name of Province and without any more information.
