Svercacheta siamensis, Bhowmik, 1977: 230, 233, misidentification; Vasanth, 1993: 63, 172, misidentification.

Holotype information. Type locality: Sri Lanka. Deposited at the Natural History Museum (BMNH), London, U.K. (not examined).

Remarks. Ingrisch (1998) examined the holotype and suggested that those records of M. confirmatus from outside of holotype locality should be confirmed by reexamination, for example, Indian species identified by Bhowmik (1977) and Vasanth (1993) are actually Svercacheta siamensis (Chopard, 1961) . This species was recorded in China by Yin and Liu (1995) and we believed that most Chinese species were identified using the references of Chopard (e.g. Chopard, 1969), however, he regarded M. consobrinus as junior synonym of M. confimatus by mistake (Chopard, 1961; Chopard, 1969; Ingrisch, 1998). According to illustration of holotype’s genitalia, Chinese species should be under the name M. consobrinus and, therefore, this species is not found in China now.
