Material examined. Stn. CHN — 25.iv.2011, S07 (5 m): a colony originally growing on a crab carapace; numerous stems, with and without gonophores, were subsequently removed from their substrate; several newlyreleased medusae were also obtained (MHNG-INVE-79602).

Distribution in Chile. The polyp stage was previously recorded from the Strait of Magellan (Jäderholm 1917, Vervoort 1972); the present record is from Chaihuin. The medusa is widely distributed along the entire Chilean coast (Fagetti 1973, Palma et al. 2007).
