Description of Mycobacterium obuense C6-12

Cells are Gram-staining-positive, non-flagellated and rod-shaped. Colonies are entire, circular, convex and light orange colored after 3 days on ISP2 agar at 30° C. Negative for arginine dihydrolase, esculin hydrolysis, β -galactosidase, gelatinase, glucose fermentation, indole production, nitrate reduction and urease in API 20NE. Does not utilize N -acetyl-glucosamine, adipic acid, Larabinose, capric acid, D-glucose, malic acid, D-maltose, D-mannitol, D-mannose, phenylacetic acid and trisodium citrate. Weakly utilize the potassium gluconate. Strain C 6-12 (= NIBRBAC000498030) has been isolated from a natural cave, Jeju, Korea.
