Thirty-six species of Kempnyia are known from Brazil (Froehlich 2011b; Avelino-Capistrano et al. 2013). The distribution of the genus is associated with the mountains of South and Central Brazil and probably occurs in nearby areas of Paraguay, Argentina, and Uruguay (Froehlich 2011a, b). Recently, nymphs were recorded from southern Venezuela (Derka et al. 2010). Four species of Kempnyia have been recorded from the Serra Bonita region, BA.
