The genus Gripopteryx is represented by 17 described species, of which three are recorded from the Serra Bonita region, G. clemira, G. garbei and G. pinima (Lecci & Froehlich 2011) . Our collections have added G. cancellata to this region of Brazil. Gripopteryx has a distribution that includes the highlands of central and eastern Brazil to northeastern Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay (Froehlich 1993, Stark et al. 2009, Lecci & Froehlich 2011).
