Hypsibius convergens (Urbanowicz 1925)

A total of 248 specimens were found in MR, LR, MT, LT and LF. Round, small septulum (following Guidetti & Bertolani (2001); since in Ramazzotti & Maucci (1983), they have doubts if there is a microplacoid or a septulum; however, in small specimens it was difficult to determine if it was a microplacoid or a septulum) was observed in specimens belonging to 20% of the samples where the species appeared. Some specimens had cuticle bars between the double-claws of the fourth pair of legs as in Bertolani (1982). Mean body size was 524 μm (SD 127), range 209 to 1111 μm. The species is considered cosmopolitan (McInnes 1994). In the Iberian Peninsula, in has been recorded for Spain (Rodríguez Roda 1952; Mihelčič 1954; Maucci & Durante Pasa 1984; Maucci 1991) and Portugal (Da Cunha 1941; Fontoura 1982; Maucci & Durante Pasa 1985). Hypsibius convergens was collected from 40 of our sampling points (Table 3).
