Diphascon (Diphascon) granifer Greven 1972

Dorsal cuticle uniformly granulated in all 57 specimens found, from the head to the caudal region. Drop present between the buccal and pharyngeal tubes. Two rod-shaped long macroplacoids and septulum present within the pharyngeal bulb. We observed cuticle bars in the inner zone of the internal double-claws in the first three pair of legs and at the base on each claw of the hind legs, as in Guidetti & Bertolani (2001). Body size was 308 to 660 μm, mean 444 μm (SD 74). This species has been cited for Europe and Africa. This is the first record for the Iberian Peninsula (Table 2). Diphascon (Diphascon) granifer appeared at 15 of our sampling points (Table 3) and only in LF samples.
