Female: Length 4.6–5.3 mm Antenna length 1.7 × head width; scape 2 × as long as pedicel; scape length 2.3 × its width; pedicel as long as wide; eyes large, in frontal view lower interocular distance 0.6 × eye length; distance between lateral ocelli subequal to distance between eye and lateral ocellus (1–1.1 x), and to that of lateral ocelli and posterior margin of head (1.1 ×); malar space short (Fig. 7b), 0.3–0.4 × diameter of median ocellus; clypeus truncated; interantennal area with superficial straight and short carina. Metabasitarsus 0.5 × length of corresponding tarsus. Fore wing with cell 2Rs as long on Rs as on M; hindwing with anal cell present (Fig. 7a). 1 st valvulae broad, triangular, tapering gradually to apex; lamnium with 16 annuli decreasing in width distally (Fig. 7f); each annulus bordered anteriorly by row of broad ctenidia, first 4 proximal annuli present, with ctenidia only on dorsal half, subsequent annuli with ctenidia dorsoventrally; ctenidia length increasing toward ventral region of valvula; ctenidia longest close to upper margin of sclerora (Fig. 7f,h); wall of each annulus with spiniform microtrichia, arranged into irregular patches; first proximal four annuli with lateral and circular campaniform sensilla, irregularly distributed; sclerora provided with marginal campaniform sensilla, one on each annulus, except for first three proximal annuli which contain multiple sensilla (Fig. 7f,h); ventral surface of each annulus with deltoid sawteeth projected anteriorly as rounded lobe, each lobe with semicircular notch (Fig. 7g); area distal to notch of each sawtooth having multiple serrulae; distal region of first valvula with undifferentiated sawteeth although with numerous irregular serrulae. Third valvulae with short apicolateral lobes (= scopae s. Ross 1937), in ventral view slightly shorter than apex of valvulae. Abdomen with T1 almost completely reduced or membranized. Color. Head black with white spot on supraclypeal area; antenna black. Thorax black anteriorly, with posterior half surface of mesoscutum median lobe (two transverse black spots on anterior margin of axillae) and tegula orange; metascutellum and its lateral arms white with black spot on metascutellum medially; mesopleural wing process, dorsal half of pleural suture and mesotransepimeral suture white. Legs white with distal half of tibiae and tarsi black (Fig. 7 a–d). Prefemur with proximal transversal black spot. Wings black. Abdomen, valvifers and third valvulae black.
Male: Unknown.
Holotype: ♀. COLOMBIA. Caquetá, Florencia, Vda. La Viciosa, Centro de investigaciones amazónicas Macagual, Uniamazonia, CIMAZ. 256m. 1°30’05”N, 75°39’48”W. 26-Mar-2016. L. Malagón leg. Deposited at UNAB 3706.
Etymology: The species name refers to the Amazonas region of Colombia where the specimen was collected.
Remarks: Color pattern of the holotype is similar to that of delta and midea; however, the pronotum and antenna are black in amazonicus . In addition, the singular notch in each sawtooth on first valvula allow to distinguish the species.
Host: Reared from young plants of Zygia longifolia (Fabaceae) . Larvae and cocoon found on leaves of the host (Fig. 7e).
