Type locality. Arabian Sea (Pillai 1964).
Record from Thailand. South-eastern Andaman Sea, next to Phuket Island (Fukuoka & Murano 2002).
Habitat and depth range. Marine, depth: 31–83 m (Fukuoka & Murano 2002) .
Distribution. This species is distributed in the Arabian Sea (Pillai 1964), South China Sea (Ii 1964), Indonesia (Ii 1964), Strait of Malacca (O.S. Tattersall 1965), India (Pillai 1973), Andaman Sea (Pillai 1973; Fukuoka & Murano 2002; Panampunnayil 2002), south off Java (Pillai 1973), Japan (Murano 1990) and Malaysia (Gan et al. 2010; Tan & Azman 2018).
Remarks. This species was established by Pillai (1964) based on specimens from south India, while Ii (1964) described the same species later the same year as A. parva based on specimens from Japan.
