Eurobowmaniella simulans (W.M. Tattersall, 1915)
= Gastrosaccus simulans W.M. Tattersall, 1915
= Eurobowmaniella phuketensis Murano, 1995
Type locality. Puri Beach, Orissa coast, India (W.M. Tattersall 1915) .
Record from Thailand. West coast of Phuket Island (Murano 1995; 1996; Dexter 1996).
Habitat. This species inhabits and is very abundant at the intertidal zone of the sandy beach on the west coast of Phuket Island (Murano 1995; 1996; Dexter 1996).
Distribution. This species is distributed from India (W.M. Tattersall 1915; 1922; Pillai 1957; 1961; 1965; Biju et al. 2014), Thailand (Murano 1995; 1996; Dexter 1996) to Malaysia (Hanamura et al. 2007).
Remarks. W.M. Tattersall (1915) named this species Gastrosaccus simulans based on specimens from Chilika Lake, India. In 1995, Murano described a new species from Phuket Island, Thailand where he established a new genus with Eurobowmaniella phuketensis as its type. In 1996, Murano found that his E. phuketensis was not new, but instead a junior synonym of Tattersall’s G. simulans . The species name was chaned accordingly, but the generic status was retained because of its unique morphology where he also included Eurobowmaniella muticus (W.M. Tattersall, 1915) (Murano 1996)
