Neotropical: 1) Ecuador (Keirans et al. 1973, Guglielmone et al. 2021).

Keirans et al. (1973) provided reliable characters to morphologically identify Amblyomma pilosum, cautioning that this tick had previously been confused with similar species, such as Amblyomma boulengeri and Amblyomma macfarlandi (Guglielmone et al. 2021) .
