Afrotropical: 1) Madagascar (Hoogstraal et al. 1974, Uilenberg et al. 1979, Burridge 2011).

The female of Haemaphysalis elongata in Nuttall & Warburton (1915) represents, in fact, the first description of the female of Haemaphysalis tiptoni, and the male of Haemaphysalis elongata redescribed in the same publication does not belong to this species, as explained in Hoogstraal (1953a).
