58. Simulium (Simulium) brevipar Takaoka & Davies, 1995

Simulium (Simulium) brevipar Takaoka & Davies, 1995: 132 –137 (Female, male, pupa and larva).

This species was described from females, males, pupae and larvae collected from Fraser’s Hill, Pahang (Takaoka and Davies, 1995). It is characterized in the pupa by the pit-like organ adjacent to the base of the gill, and the gill with six slender filaments of subequal thickness except the dorsalmost filament which is much thicker than others when compared basally.

The immature stages are found in small to medium-sized streams at low to high elevations (159–1,813 m) in various provinces of Peninsular Malaysia ( Ya’cob et al., 2016a, b).
