35. Simulium (Gomphostilbia) charlesi Takaoka, 2008

Simulium (Gomphostilbia) charlesi Takaoka, 2008b: 203 –210 (Female, male, pupa and larva).

This species was described from females, males, pupae and larvae collected from Bario, Sarawak (Takaoka, 2008b). It is characterized by the male style widened, and the pupal gill with eight filaments arranged as 3+3+2 from dorsal to ventral, of which the inner filament of the ventral pair is a little longer and thicker than the ourter filament.

This species was also collected from Peninsular Malaysia (Takaoka, 2012). The pupae and larvae of this species occur in small to medium-sized lowland streams.
