45. Simulium (Simulium) sp. C Takaoka & Davies, 1995

Simulium (Simulium) sp. C Takaoka & Davies, 1995: 157–158 (Pupa).

Simulium (S.) sp. C was described from pupal exuviae collected from a stream on the southern slope of Mt. Tahan, Pahang (Takaoka and Davies, 1995). Takaoka et al. (2014h) suggested that S. sp. C is the pupa of S. (S.) atipornae Takaoka, Srisuka & Choochote or S. (S.) fuscopilosum or related species. The pupa of this species is characterized by the gill with six thread-like filaments, absence of terminal hooks, and wall-pocket-shaped cocoon with large anterolateral open spaces.
