15. Simulium (Gomphostilbia) johorense Takaoka, Sofian-Azirun & Ya’cob, 2014
Simulium (Gomphostilbia) johorense Takaoka et al., 2014a: 17 –24 (Female, male, pupa and larva).
This species was described from females, males, pupae and larvae (Takaoka et al., 2014a). It is characterized in the female by the subcosta which is bare or with one to five hairs, in the male by the number of enlarged upper-eye facets (13 vertical columns and 14 horizontal rows), and in the pupa by the gill with eight slender filaments arranged as 3+3+2 from dorsal to ventral, of which the longest inner filament of the ventral paired filaments is 1.5 times or little more the length of the other six filaments.
This species is distributed in Johor (type locality) and Negeri Sembilan. The aquatic stages were found in small lowland streams.
